In particular, the introduction of the Renters Rights Act 2025, the single biggest change in housing regulation to affect the rented sector in 40 years, means our team needs to grow, not only to enforce high standards but also to support both landlords and tenants to understand a range of new requirements.</p><p>You may be an experienced housing officer, with a strong background in housing regulation, including the full range of Housing Act enforcement functions, HMO licensing and the regulation of fire safety in high/medium rise buildings. &nbsp;</p><p>Alternatively, you may have relevant experience or qualifications in a housing or construction &nbsp;related field but wish to broaden your experience &nbsp;by working &nbsp;in a regulatory service.</p><p>As the post is career graded, successful candidates will be appointed on the salary point which reflects their qualifications and experience, but additional training and development will be provided in order to acquire the qualifications or experience to enable progression through the salary grades. <strong>Please ensure your application provides full details of your qualifications and any relevant experience</strong></p><p>The housing standards team comprises of 6 front line officers, plus a dedicated HMO licensing officer, and we are looking for additional capacity to support &nbsp;the team, particularly in the current landscape of significant regulatory change coming from the Renters Rights Act.
