We are currently looking to recruit 6 Rough Sleeper Support Workers to work across multiple sites with flexible shift patterns starting at 3pm until 8am.

Are you ready to take on a challenge and rewarding role that makes a real difference to the lives of people who are street homeless. An exciting opportunity to join Preston City Council’s established Rough Sleeper Team in providing support services to rough sleepers. We are looking for people with excellent communication skills, compassionate with a problem solving approach to make a difference. 

Rough Sleeper Support Worker will work with rough sleepers to provide a safe space to start the journey in breaking the cycle of rough sleeping and joining the pathway to recovery.

The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work with customers in a front-line setting. Your ability to negotiate with a range of agencies and partner organisations in both the statutory, private and voluntary sector to deliver support services and positive outcomes for clients is essential.

The successful candidate will have a sound knowledge of the Homeless Reduction Act (HRA) and  be able to make decisions plus demonstrate how clients have been helped in innovative and proactive ways to prevent homelessness or secure accommodation.

There will be ongoing training opportunities to update or refresh work skills and housing law knowledge.

This role benefits from a minimum of 30 days’ Annual Leave plus statutory Bank Holidays, access to the council’s Flexi Scheme, casual car user, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
