This is an exciting time to be working for Preston City Council and we are investing in our Planning service in order to deliver our corporate priorities and statutory duties. The city is facing significant changes and challenges with many new and high-quality developments occurring throughout the city, and the Planning Service is at the centre of much of what is happening. We are now looking to recruit a Business Support Officer within the Development and Housing Directorate to take the lead on the operational management and technical administration of the IT systems serving the Directorate, specifically Development Management and Building Control.

As part of your duties, you will responsible for the technical configuration and operational deployment of the departmental computer databases and systems. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of the ICT Strategy for Planning and Building Control, maximise systems availability, data accuracy, and support business functions. You will be required to deliver the performance reporting process to ensure the timely availability of performance and business information, based on high quality data, that appropriately and effectively evidences real-time performance across the department.

You don’t need previous experience in Planning or Building Control, but will need to demonstrate that you meet all of the essential criteria.

For an informal chat about the role please contact Natalie Somers, Assistant Director (Head of Development Management and Building Control) on 01772 906501 or n.somers@preston.gov.uk

Please note, previous applicants need not apply.

N.B. if you require sponsorship to be able to work in the UK, unfortunately, this isn't something we offer.

As an employer we like to thank our employees for their hard work and commitment by giving them the opportunity to access a range of employee benefits including flexi time, hybrid working, a minimum of 30 days’ annual leave (plus Bank Holidays), family friendly policies, access to an Employee Assistance Programme, Local Government Pension Scheme, AVC’s, life assurance scheme, payment of professional fees, discounted parking, bus and rail fares and a cycle to work scheme
