Gardener

Parks are seeking to appoint a hardworking and reliable individual to join our team as a Gardener.

As a Gardener you will help deliver the maintenance of parks and open spaces. Duties will include grass cutting, shrub maintenance, litter, fly-tipping removal and any other task to ensure that Preston City Council’s parks and open spaces are maintained to the best standard possible.

When carrying out these duties you will be required to use various items of horticultural equipment as well as driving ride on mowers and vehicles up to 7.5 tonne, if applicable.

The successful applicant should be conscientious, flexible, trustworthy, and have good communication skills. They should enjoy working outdoors and be able to undertake a significant amount of walking and physical work during the day.

The standard working week is 37 hours however the weekly hours are based on a seasonal working pattern. The standard working week is 37 hours however the weekly hours are based on a seasonal working pattern. Currently the hours are 7.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30am to 3.00pm on Friday.
